Inverness Medical stole the show at this weeks IBMS Congress at the ICC Birmingham

From the word go it was a problem keeping visitors off the stand – our clients actually had to put a rope barrier across the entrance.  Six fashion shows took place, over 200 market surveys were completed on the first day.

Stuart Cassey, Marketing Director was heard to say “it doesn’t get much better than this”.  Taking on board that a big part of a stands success is the attitude and involvement of an exhibitors own staff, this became a win win win.  It should be noted that the stand was in a less than excellent location – right at the back of the hall.  None the less this treatment worked and responded well to the restrictions of this type of exhibition.

Our client – Inverness Medical – provides diagnostic products and services for medical laboratories.  And they had elected to exhibit at the IBMS Congress (Institute of Biomedical Science) in Birmingham’s ICC in September.  Their challenge?  Their target market was not necessarily in attendance as visitors to the exhibition.  They needed a powerful event to raise their profile in such a way that it would be talked about by those who did visit their experience to those who did not.  And an inherent internal objective of the client was to re-motivate their own staff – who are going through a re-branding exercise in the near future and were questioning the validity of attending the event in the first place.  The answer – involvement.  Involvement by the companies own marketing team in-depth and of course the visitors to the show.  Market information to inform future activity was high on the list of objectives as well.  So an on stand survey of visitors with eight questions was agreed.  But how to get the audience into the space and engage them in the survey?  It was decided to go for fun.  The strategy was to engage lab technicians in an event designed to “brighten up their working conditions”.  It was agreed that the common lab coat should be singled out for a makeover and so the Fab Lab Fashion Show was created.  An on stand display of potentially new and interesting lab wear was originated – including the chav lab coat, the little black number lab coat, the technicolour lab coat and many others.  The clients marketing department became catwalk models and threw themselves into yet another example of industrial theatre.  Professional celebrity tribute acts were hired to compere the event and an Ab Fab Patsy and fashionista Brünot - and a new art form was born!

CJ Services

Recent client CJ Services of Runcorn - providers of point of purchase installation - exhibiting at the In-Store Marketing Show enjoyed a special visit by a high profile celeb.

Talented professional tribute actor – Dani B is not Ali G – one of The Exhibiting Agency’s key presenters helped get our clients noticed.

An interview with Play Instore host Tommy Boyd – the In-store Show radio station - made sure that our clients message was carried through.

See Dani B is not Ali G finding out about POP from CJ Services Marketing Director See the interview here.

They’re in the business of getting their clients noticed in their market place and so of course is The Exhibiting Agency.
