The Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre
QEIICC, the premier venue for conferences and congresses – is located opposite the houses of parliament. And they were looking for better results from their exhibitions.
Year One - 2008
QEIICC called in The Exhibiting Agency to hold an objective setting
workshop where key messages could be clarified. Although quite
close to their next exhibition – Confex – small, but crucial changes
were made to their current stand plan. The prospects stand visit
was given more meaning, data was captured more efficiently and follow
up was initiated immediately.
And the results? Over
170 new prospects indicated an interest in hiring The QEIICC and over
50 signed up for the in-house Masterclasses planned to help clients
deliver the most powerful conference they’ve ever held.

at the show and have extended our sales leads for the team to
pursue over the next month.”
Year
Two – 2009 The Exhibiting Agency worked with The QEIICC on a
total show consultancy programme. New objectives were identified
and quantified; new messages were highlighted; and the complete process
was adopted to engage and involve qualified prospects.
The
QEIICC Master Challenge was created and the stand design became a
discrete game show studio, offering constant engagement with qualified
prospects.
And the results? Over 300 qualified prospects –
23 with specific enquiries about a conference in the offing. The
cost per lead was reduced and once again a large number of delegates
signed up for the in house best practice conference
masterclasses.
Most importantly the anticipated return on
investment improved from break-even in 2008 to a potential 3:1 ratio in
2009.
Year Three – 2010 The QEIICC needed to exhibit
again at International Confex – but against the background of the
severe credit crunch. On a much tighter budget the decision was
made to reduce their footprint and take a space on the Visit London
pavilion stand.
The messages were identified as “flexible and
expert”. Again, clear objectives were identified and the messages
were built into a short narrated presentation. A pro-active
spotter was hired to attract and qualify prospects.
Once again the
results speak for themselves – 190 contacts were made – a substantial
number of whom indicated an interest in attending the in-house
Masterclasses. And on a much reduced investment the cost per lead
came down to the lowest figure for three years. Even on the Visit
London stand, The QEIICC stood out – and the bonus was in gathering a
further 800 contact names by sponsoring the Confex presentation theatre.
